The Challenge
Elegre’s wireless network was fundamental to its stock-control process. Staff used handheld barcode scanners connected to Fishbowl as goods moved through a two-level office, warehouse, production area, kitchen and two cold-storage units. Blackspots and repeated dropouts meant the connection could not be relied on throughout that journey.
The building itself made dependable coverage difficult. Cold, humid rooms, physical barriers and several different operating zones meant a generic access-point layout would not solve the problem. Elegre needed a network designed around how people and stock actually moved through the site.
